ACL Reconstruction
I am a competitive gymnast at Mountain Brook Gymnastics and attend Vestavia Hills High School. I injured by knee during a dismount. I felt a pop and had immediate swelling. We were concerned about an ACL tear and a friend of ours, who is a physical therapist, recommended seeing Dr. Momaya. We visited his office, and he was immediately able to diagnose me with an ACL tear. The MRI confirmed the diagnosis. We decided on a bone patellar tendon autograft given my age. I felt comfortable with Dr. Momaya because he has a history of taking care of so many of the Mountain Brook Gymnasts who have successfully returned to sport.
The surgery went smoothly. The rehab was tough but went well. Thank you Dr. Momaya for your work and professional demeanor in clinic. I would highly recommend Dr. Momaya for any gymnast who has experienced a knee injury.
